At its Feb. 20 meeting the Kissimmee City Commission, with little discussion or debate, unanimously passed an updated noise ordinance that puts into place a tiered system of increasing fines for continued violations.

City Senior Planner Ashley Cornelison told the Commission the update had seen only one minor change from its previous readings, allowing for a verbal warning by police that will then be noted in the computer system, to allow for aless cumbersome process for law enforcement. The new ordinance also adjusts for new equipment that will be used to monitor the level of the noise, and to clarify that the volume measurement be from the edge of a property line.

The only question came from Commissioner Carlos Alvarez, as to whether there was any exception for noise on holidays such as the Fourth of July, and it was explained there was no exception for individuals, only for government events.

After inviting any comment from the public, which there was none. the new ordinance passed unanimously.
