Erring on the side of caution – The Association of Poinciana Villages (APV) has decided, due to CDC guidelines and recommendations, to cancel this year’s Trunk or Treat event. Instead, APV is asking families to submit photos of their house decorations and costume clad Trick or Treaters, so that they can do a photo compilation of your little ghouls and goblins. APV will feature these photos in the Poinciana Pioneer, through email and social media. Please send your pictures to
Halloween Scream N’Stream, hosted by Boggy Creek Airport Adventures, is planning some spooky events that will be like watching a horror movie in real life from the seat of your car. Drive-in to their 30-minute theatrical experience that takes place along a 1.2-mile dark forest road. This “Spook-tacular” will include live performances, props, audio and more. In addition, there is drive-through trick or treating (family friendly) as well as a drive-through haunted house (parental discretion is advised).
Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures is located at 2001 E. Southport Road. This event runs from Sept. 25 to Oct. 31. Portions of proceeds will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. For tickets and more information, go to www.ScreamStream.com.
October is Breast Awareness Month. Poinciana Medical Center’s Ask-A-Doc series will be on Monday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. The topic is Breast Cancer Awareness. Join the discussion on the Poinciana Medical Center’s Facebook page as Board Certified General Surgeon Dr. Owen Kieran, discusses breast cancer awareness. Tune in and have your questions ready as Dr. Kieran will be answering them live.
Those in need will have an additional resource to help during these difficult times. First Baptist Poinciana, 601 Walnut St., will hold a free food box distribution on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1:30 p.m.
