You’re invited to “Earth Day / Arbor Day in the Park” on Sunday, April 15.

Presented by the City of Winter Park’s Sustainability Program, Urban Forestry Division and Keep Winter Park Beautiful, this event welcomes families of all ages to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day. Activities include a kid’s zone with games, art projects and tie-dye t-shirts. Plus live music all day, child and adult yoga and more.

For the third year in a row, the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens will sponsor a Quick Draw Competition. The outdoor painting competition is open to amateurs and professionals ages 16 and up. Registered participants will set up their supplies and paint or draw in downtown Winter Park. Artists have only two hours to complete their work.

The paintings will be displayed on the artists’ easels in Central Park for an Art Stroll, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The public will vote for their favorite canvas, and the favored artist will win the People’s Choice Award. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: First Prize – $250; Second Prize – $150; Third Prize – $75; People’s Choice – $100, sponsored by the City of Winter Park.

Interested artists can register in advance, online: http://polasek.org/wppo/quickdraw/.

In addition to the events, certified arborists from the city’s Urban Forestry Division will be on site to answer questions. They will also be giving away an assortment of one-gallon container sized trees to be planted at home.

The event will run 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no admission fee.
