About Country Current

Country Current is the Navy’s premier country-bluegrass ensemble. The group is known nationally for its modern blend of modern country music and cutting-edge bluegrass.

Formed in 1973, the band has a rich legacy of notable alumni including Bill Emerson, Wayne Taylor, Jerry Gilmore and Frank Sollivan. Its current members feature MU1 Kenneth Ray Horton (guitar and lead vocals), MU1 Haley E. Stiltner (banjo), MU1 Daniel J. Stewart (bass), MU1 Christina M. Catalanotto (musical director, drums), MUCS Patrick J. White (fiddle, mandolin and vocals), MU1 Henry A. Johns (pedal steel guitar) and MU1 Brendon P. Lennon (audio production engineer).

Country Current has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, and for United States presidents including Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. The band plays regularly for various dignitaries, and reaches out both locally and nationally to perform for veterans, elementary schools and in support of active-duty Sailors.
