The largest rodeo east of the Mississippi is back. Osceola County’s Silver Spurs Rodeo is celebrating its 142nd rodeo this year.

The celebration kicked off on Friday with the eighth annual Monster Bulls event at Osceola Heritage Park.

Silver Spurs Rodeo weekend begins on Friday, Feb. 15 — known as “Rodeo Day” in Osceola County schools — with a rodeo parade. This is the first time the parade will return since the early 2000s, and will host more than 30 entries, including cowboys and cowgirls on horseback, Big Boss Chris Fluke, Little Boss Chris Baker, Miss Silver Spurs Hayley Crosby, Junior Miss Silver Spurs Ansley Bo, Little Miss Silver Spurs Emma Boisclair, city of St. Cloud council members, city of Kissimmee commissioners, Silver Spurs Club members and more.

“We are so excited that the Silver Spurs Club is bringing back the Rodeo Parade and honored that they chose downtown St. Cloud as the location to kick off Rodeo weekend,” St. Cloud Mayor Nathan Blackwell said in a press release. “This is a tradition that has been in Osceola County for over 50 years and we are proud the parade will take place in St. Cloud on Rodeo Day.”

The parade is free and open to the public.

The first rodeo of the weekend will also be on Rodeo Day, at 7:30 p.m. Other rodeos throughout the weekend will be Saturday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m.

All three rodeos will be held in the Silver Spurs Arena, at Osceola Heritage Park, where rodeo cowboys and cowgirls will compete for $100,000 in prize money. Some of the Silver Spurs Rodeo performances include bull riding, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, women’s barrel racing, tie-down roping, team roping and steer wrestling.

Tickets to Friday and Saturday performances is $20 per adult; children ages 10 and under receive free admission. Sunday’s performance is $15 per adult; children ages 10 and under receive free admission. All tickets include admission to the Osceola County Fair, also located at Osceola Heritage Park (through Sunday, Feb. 17).
