Osceola Arts will finish its 2017-2018 Theatre Season with Disney’s The Little Mermaid opening later this month. Beginning Friday, July 13, and running through Sunday, July 29th, the Osceola Arts Main Stage will transform into an “Under the Sea” oasis for this popular musical featuring hit songs like “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.” This fun-filled show is the perfect family-friendly treat for the summer.

Based on the 1989 animated movie, the stage production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid follows Ariel on her journey to find something more above the sea and even gives up her voice to find true love. Osceola Arts audiences will recognize Ariel, played by Alyssa Hostetler, from previous performances in last season’s productions of The Drowsy Chaperone and Winter Wonderettes. Hostetler is joined by both familiar faces and newcomers to the OA stage as director J. Marie Bailey and her creative team has put together a talented cast of local actors for this production.

Tickets start at $22 with senior, student and group rates available. Showtimes for Disney’s The Little Mermaid are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays. There will be an additional 2 p.m. matinee performance on Saturday, July 28.

Osceola Arts is pleased to also offer a brand new visual arts exhibit. SPLAT Art Group’s new exhibit, Under the Sea, will be on display from July 13 through August 10 in the Main Gallery. Students Pursuing Leadership in Arts and Technology (SPLAT) is a group of local creative youth living and making art and exhibits in public spaces throughout Central Florida. The Artists Reception will be held for the exhibit on Saturday, July 28, at noon. All art exhibits are free and open to the public.

The mission of Osceola Arts is to promote, cultivate and foster interest and participation in the arts by providing affordable and accessible programs and facilities that encourage artistic expression in the diverse community they serve.
