Magic, music, merch: Theme-park inspired small shop to host live event

Get ready for a night filled with magic, music and merch. Presented by The Lost Bros, The Kingdom Classic is taking over 3NINE at Rosen Plaza for an unforgettable night on Saturday, April 28, beginning at 7 p.m.

Brothers and business partners Cody and Colton Tapoler founded The Lost Bros theme-park inspired small shop in May 2016.

“We grew up loving movies, and became [theme park] passholders as adults,” said Cody, creative director for The Lost Bros. “We spent a ton of time at the parks together and desperately wanted merch that was more in line with our personal style. That’s really the birth of The Lost Bros… Trendier merch that could be worn in or out of the parks, with more attention on being fashion forward than we were seeing at the time.”

The shop began with just a handful of designs — Life is the Bubbles tees, the Lost Boys jerseys and the Mermaids jerseys — all of which are still available in the brothers’ online store. However, the small shop has since expanded to several designs for unisex shirts, hats, socks, pins and more.

Some of the brothers’ most popular items were inspired by The Haunted Mansion attraction, Netflix’s Stranger Things show, Disney’s Toy Story films and even some breakfast foods. Couple’s tees and BFF tees have made their way into the collection, too— like the favored “Princes and Princesses” set.

And let me tell you firsthand: The Lost Bros merchandise has spread like wildfire. It’s nearly impossible to visit an Orlando theme park without seeing one of their unique shirts.

So with all of this talk about clothing and merchandise, how did music come into play?

“I grew up in music,” said Cody. “I started touring when I was 17, working every job on the road until I finally put myself on the front line with my music career. I ended two years of releasing music and touring as Cody T to start The Lost Bros with my brother.”

The brothers then began to incorporate music into their business. They recorded an EP of covers of classic Disney songs, and hosted their first live event, Kingdomchella, last year.

“Kingdomchella, and our whole musical career as The Lost Bros, really started as a way for me to bring my two worlds together,” said Cody. “What started as a very simple EP release party, after a few brainstorming sessions, turned into a fully concepted and themed live event.”

The Kingdom Classic is all grown up in comparison to Kingdomchella.

“We’re in a real, huge and beautiful event space,” said Cody. “We started with ourselves and, our dear friends, Aloha Ears Design, at the last event.”

Guests will once again be able to enjoy live musical performances and shop designs by The Lost Bros, but also shop the designs of 16 of the other top theme-park inspired small shops in Central Florida.

“Small shops serve an important role in the community surrounding amusement parks, and fashion in general,” said Colton, brand manager for The Lost Bros. “They have all identified niches that were going underrepresented or undeserved and they are all working to fill those gaps. These are small businesses that are hoping to offer the public items that aren’t already available, and I think that on its own is a great reason to support them.”

In addition to browsing merchandise and singing along to covers of classic Disney hits, guests can enjoy some bites and sips from a special, one-night menu. The Lost Bros will present a food and cocktail menu, custom made for the event based off of their very own “Restaurant Row”— a collection of made-up restaurants that they have incorporated into their clothing brand.

Special menu items include a frozen drink from Olaf’s Snow Cone Shack, donuts from Glazed by the Belle and egg rolls from Mushu’s Chinese Takeout.

The Kingdom Classic welcomes guests 21 and older with a valid form of ID.

Standard tickets are $29, and can be purchased in advance online through Eventbrite or at the door if the event has not sold out.
