Universal Orlando Resort’s all-new nighttime lagoon show officially premiered on Monday.

While Monday was considered Cinematic Celebration’s first “official” day, Universal Orlando debuted the show on the Fourth of July. The theme park has done this with new attractions before, in what it calls its “technical rehearsal” phase.

Cinematic Celebration is what Universal Orlando describes as an “epic cinema under the stars.” The show takes guests on a seamless journey through Universal’s biggest films, starting with Jurassic Park. Other notable films include Fast and Furious, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Kung Fu Panda and Trolls. You can even catch some of your favorite minions from Despicable Me.

“In my opinion, I think this is the best nightime show Universal Orlando has ever had,” said Universal Orlando Director of Creative Development Mike Aiello.

Just under 20 minutes in length, Cinematic Celebration features multi-layer water screens, lasers, projection mapping and more than 120 dancing fountains. A fireworks display

ends the show with a bang.

The lagoon show takes place right in the heart of the theme park. A three-level designated viewing area was constructed especially for this show, located in the Central Park area. Access to the show and viewing area is included in general theme park admission, with no additional cost or reservation.

Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration runs select nights this summer. To see the show’s time schedule, or to learn more about it, visit www.UniversalOrlando.com.
