Central Florida’s newest water park is now open. Island H2O Live! at Margaritaville Resort Orlando opened to the public on June 21 — just in time to kick off the summer season.

“We’re open!” General Manager Jim Kunau announced at the media reception. And with a ribbon cutting and few words from the destination resort’s developing company Encore Capital Management’s own Art Falcone, the water park welcomed guests with a big splash.

Upon entrance, guests can receive a wristband to customize their day at the water park. With a technology theme, this is the most customizable water park experience visitors can get in Central Florida.

The wristband works through the Vantage system — the newest offering from water slide manufacturer WhiteWater West — which ties to an app that guests can download on their smart devices either before they arrive at the park, or upon arrival. The wristbands sync to the app, and the customization begins.

Guests can choose which music they want to hear and lights they want to see on certain attractions on the app, and then scan the wristband at the start of each ride to get those settings in place before their journey through the water. The scanner reads the information and automatically plays those established selections.

With each scan, guests can also learn loyalty points. Points can be redeemed for prizes like free food and beverage items, skip-the-line passes and more.

There are also photo and video booths throughout the park to add to the sharing experience.

Not to mention, each of these attractions and booths is named to keep that technology theme. Some of the attractions include Follow Me Falls, Reply Racers, Hashtag Heights, Profile Plunge, Chat Creek and more.

Island H2O Live! is located at 3230 Inspiration Drive, Kissimmee — just off of U.S. Highway 192 and part of mega-resort destination Margaritaville Resort Orlando.

“The original plan (for the resort) always had a water park component in it,” Kunau told the News-Gazette. But he said there’s been a lot of “development” of the idea.

“[The water park] becomes a key of bringing additional people to the resort,” Kunau said. “We’re part of the community and wanted to be sure that we provided the best value possible for those people that live here with us.”

But the water park isn’t just open to guests of Margaritaville Resort Orlando — it’s open to everyone. Guests of other resorts and locals can purchase single-day or annual passes.
