We’re getting closer, Osceola. Country Thunder is rolling in.

The countdown has begun for the country music festival expected to take Osceola Heritage Park, as we mark our calendars for March 22-24.

In case this is your first time reading about the festival, allow us to catch you up.

Country Thunder is one of the premiere country music festivals, with 23 years of experience under its belt. The outdoor, weekend festival is a party of food, drinks and, of course, live country music by some of the genre’s biggest stars.

Past performers include big names like Miranda Lambert, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan.

The traveling festival makes its way across North America, from Arizona and Wisconsin (United States), to Alberta and Saskatchewan (Canada).

For the first time ever, it will make a stop in Florida — right here in Kissimmee.

“Florida is somewhere that we have wanted to be for a long time,” said Gerry Krochak, director of marketing and media for Country Thunder Music Festivals, told the Osceola News-Gazette. “The amazing venue of Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, combined with such a huge country music audience in central Florida will make this event special for years to come.”

If you’re a country fan, there’s no doubt you’ll be a fan of this lineup. The News-Gazette has shared bits and pieces of the lineup as announcements of new names were made, but the full lineup is out.

For the first time ever, a country music festival will take place simultaneously as a rodeo.

The RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo will happen during the same weekend as County Thunder. This tournament-style competition event challenges athletes from all 12 circuits to compete in the preliminary rounds of the rodeo. As contestants advance, event winners receive a $20,000 voucher for a new RAM vehicle, a Polaris RANGER UTV, a pair of exotic boots from Justin Boots, trophy saddle from Cactus Saddlery and a Montana Silversmith buckle, in addition to their winnings.
