Talking turkey — Some suggestions if you are dining out

It’s not only a day to give thanks, but also the biggest dining day of the year. If you want to skip the ordeal of cooking that turkey, here are some   best bets on dining out around Orlando.

Universal Orlando Loews Hotels will be offering a feast of Thanksgiving buffets including:

Trattoria del Porto

Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

Savor the tastes of Italy at the Thanksgiving Day Buffet from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Entertainment includes appearances by Universal Orlando characters, kids’ holiday crafts and activities table, face painter, balloonist and live music. Adults $65, children (ages 3 – 9) $20, under 3 free.

The rockin’ Thanksgiving Buffet from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Entertainment includes appearances by Universal Orlando characters and Magic Man. Adults $62, children $22, under 3 free.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort

The Thanksgiving Holiday Buffet among the sights and sounds of the South Pacific from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Entertainment includes a face painter, balloonist and appearances by Universal Orlando characters. Adults $58, children (ages 3 – 9) $26, under 3 free.

A Caribbean-style Thanksgiving Day Buffet from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Entertainment includes a face painter, balloonist and appearances by Universal Orlando characters. Adults $58, Children (ages 3 – 9) $26, under 3 free.

Raglan Road Irish Pub

Disney Springs

It’s a traditional meal with the Raglan touch from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Butter and herb roasted turkey breast on mashed potatoes, with apple, sage and sweet onion stuffing, smoked bacon Brussels sprouts, duck fat roasted potatoes and cranberry and plum chutney served with traditional gravy. $27.95. Gaylord Palms Resort


Gaylord Palms offers two big Thanksgiving Day options.

  Villa Del Flora.

Enjoy traditional holiday fare along with other delicious options from Villa de Flora’s fresh and authentic seasonal buffet menu, all set in the grand dining room of a European villa.

The Thanksgiving Day Buffet is $75 for adults, $35, children (plus 18 percent gratuity and tax). Self-parking is included in the price. It is served from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 • Old Hickory Steakhouse

Enjoy fine dining, a large wine selection and great service at Old Hickory Steakhouse. Located in the Everglades atrium, this signature restaurant offers a rustic ambiance for savoring sophisticated cuisine and the finest regional products. In addition to the world-class menu, there will be special holiday offerings served from 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m.

The menu includes pumpkin soup or roasted kaocha squash salad; roasted turkey breast with sausage and fennel cornbread stuffing, whipped potatoes and roasted fall vegetables and pecan tart (cinnamon creme anglaise, vanilla whipped cream) for dessert. It is $75 plus tax per person.

Bahama Breeze

Kissimmee, U.S. 192 (and International Drive; Lake Buena Vista)

The Thanksgiving menu includes: sliced jerk turkey and pork, and island-inspired sides, like callaloo, green beans, cornbread stuffing, cranberry-pineapple chutney and guest’s choice of mashed potatoes or cinnamon mashed sweet potatoes. Special dessert option includes Bahama Breeze pumpkin praline pie.

The regular menu also will be available. This is the first time some Bahama Breeze locations will be open for Thanksgiving.

The Capital Grille

4200 Conroy Rd., Orlando

The Capital Grille will feature the regular menu plus the Thanksgiving Plate: the plate includes a host of traditional holiday sides, like Sam’s mashed potatoes, alongside slow-roasted turkey with brioche stuffing. Adults $39, children, $15.

The restaurant will serve a three-course prix fixe menu for $65, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Menu Items include choice of: Chestnut & foie gras stuffed turkey roulade or brown sugar glazed smoked ham with pineapple chutney.

Fixin’s: milk buns with artisanal butter, smothered green beans with wild mushrooms and crispy shallots, sweet potato casserole with marshmallow and candied pecans, sourdough stuffing and citrus cranberry sauce

Choice of: house-made seasonal pies

The restaurant will offer a three course prix fixe menu for $30 per person, in addition to their a la carte menu, noon until 8 p.m. Reservations can be made on Thanksgiving Prix Fixe menu items include: curried butternut squash bisque, turkey roulade served with ciabatta and chorizo stuffing, chèvre whipped potatoes, and pancetta French beans. Chocolate pecan pie.

The restaurant will offer a three-course prix fixe menu for $49 per person. Thanksgiving Prix Fixe menu: Choice of: pumpkin bisque, chef’s seasonal salad, or crepe urbain; Choice of: slow roasted turkey breast and dark meat roulade, lemon-myrtle scented salmon, wild red shrimp pasta, or slow braised pork shank; Choice of: heirloom “apple pie” creation or caramelized pear-studded croissant bread pudding. The Polite Pig at Disney Springs

The Polite Pig will be open from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving day. A la carte menu selections include signature dishes like the smoked chicken wings with pickled carrots; House-smoked brisket with coffee rub; The Southern pig sandwich with pulled pork, fennel-apple slaw, tangy mustard bbq and Duke’s mayo; and crispy brussels sprouts with whisky-caramel. F&D Kitchen will offer a full a la carte menu in addition to several specials including sliced turkey breast with cornbread waffle stuffing, sage gravy, orange cranberry sauce, Haritcots Verts Almondine. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations:

The restaurant will offer a prix fixe menu staring at $49 per person and traditional Thanksgiving diner at $39.95. The Thanksgiving menu incorporates fresh flavors with traditional dishes such as the Pan Roasted Teriyaki Glazed Turkey and decadent sides like the truffle mashed potatoes. Roy’s Classic Prix Fixe menu provides an iconic selection of Roy’s classic dishes that blends fresh ingredients with flavors of the islands.
