He probably helped Americans lose millions of pounds and made millions of dollars doing it.

Just how effective Richard Simmons was in the business of losing those extra pounds will always be debatable, but his Sweatin’ to the Oldies has become the stuff of legend for the ages.

Now, for the very first time, Time Life has released a six-disc collectors set (the complete series) of Sweatin’ to the  Oldies. That’s 440 minutes of sweating and memories. The set also includes 100 minutes of bonus programming featuring an exclusive interview with Simmons, testimonials and success stories from Simmons’ devotees and a 20-page album of rare personal photos and memories selected by the king of the sparkly tank tops.

Note: The release from Time Life actually calculates that over the past 30 years (Simmons opened his first aerobics studio in  Beverly Hills in 1974) he has helped people lose 3 million pounds.

In addition to the Sweatin’ to the Oldies videos, Simmons has made 65 fitness videos, dozens of informecials, nine best-selling books and more.

If somehow you missed all of those commercials plugging the fitness videos, Sweatin’ to the Oldies pairs lively classics from the ’50s and ‘60s with rocking low impact routines. And Simmons, of course, is in the thick of it, providing encouragement and humor.

“I can’t believe it has been 30 years since the beginning,” said Simmons in a press release from Time Life. “For the first time ever, I have compiled  the complete Sweatin’ to the Oldies collection. It’s the original and still the best way to get your heart racing and your blood pumping.”
