St. Cloud Regional Medical Center will break ground on a multimillion dollar expansion project next month.

rooms and a central main entrance that will improve access for emergency and outpatient services.
The scope of the project also includes nearly 4,000 square feet of upgrades to the main lobby and registration areas.
Director of Marketing Lisa Mitchell said the decision to expand the emergency department was based on several factors including projected population growth in St. Cloud and surrounding areas.
“Increasing patient treatment space at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center will not only allow accommodations for immediate patient needs, but has also been designed to allow future growth,” Mitchell noted.
Construction is expected to last about a year and wrap up by fall 2018.
The new ambulance and main entrances will be located off 17th Street
Mitchell said the main entrance will move to the east side during construction, and that ample signage will be posted outside to help patrons navigate during the transition.
“These improvements will enhance our number one priority – delivering quality care to our patients,” CEO of St. Cloud Regional Medical Center Brent Burish said in a media release. “These changes also will support our dedicated healthcare professionals by making hospital resources more accessible and efficient.”
The multi-million dollar project builds on efforts made over the last year to recruit physicians, renovate patient rooms, update technology and add new medical equipment. Hospital officials did not provide the exact cost of the project.
The St. Cloud Regional Medical Center will break ground on the new emergency department at 9 a.m. Nov. 4 outside the main entrance.
Residents will have the opportunity to view renderings of what the completed facility will look like at the event.
A free public family health fair will follow, and activities will include free health screenings, St. Cloud Fire Rescue engines, local vendors and a kids’ zone with face painting and a dig area.
