SportsRock Gymnastics, located in Kissimmee, competed at the USA Gymnastics Xcel Florida State Championships in Lakeland last month, and brought three age-group state championships home to Osceola County.
Valentina Abril and Aliya Lopez won on the vault, uneven bars and won All-Around honors. Gaby Ortiz was a winner on the vault.
Special mention goes to Victoria Gonzalez (second place on vault) and Jayde Cherba (sixth on floor exercise). The team combined to earn fourth place in the state.
KPD Howard & Baxter Scholarship Golf Tournament
The second installment of the Sgt. Sam Howard and Officer Matthew Baxter Memorial Golf Tournament will be held May 31 at Eagle Creek Golf Club. 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per foursome, and includes golf, a BBQ lunch, raffle prizes and a silent auction. Corporate drink station, hole and other sponsorships are also available. Last year the tournament was a huge success with many of the entry positions filling rather quickly. All skill levels are invited to participate. Top Gun basketball shooting camp
The annual Top Gun Basketball Camp will be held June 3-7 from 8 a.m.-noon at the St. Cloud High School gym for children in grades 4-12. Camp fee is $100 and includes camp shirt and daily drink and snack (campers should bring water daily). For an additional $40, campers can stay for “Overtime” until 1:30 p.m. and play full court games.
Camp often fills up (only 30 spots available for Overtime) and registration will be available at the door only if spots are available. Campers learn the finer points of shooting and passing from the St. Cloud High coaching staff and volunteers. St. Cloud Volleyball Camp
The annual St. Cloud Volleyball Camp will take place June 10-13 from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day in the St. Cloud High School gym. Led by Bulldogs girls and boys volleyball coach Ettie Singleton, the week of instruction is for boys and girls in grades 4-10. Camp fee of $90 includes a t-shirt. Wounded Veterans Golf Classic
Kissimmee Bay Country Club will host the fifth annual Wounded Veterans Golf Classic, a four-man scramble on Aug. 3 at 8 a.m. Proceeds from $54 entry fee benefit Fairways for Warriors, a 501(c)3 non-profit. For registration info, go to playgolfinkissimmee.com.
Osceola School District Legacy Program
The School District of Osceola County has launched a Legacy Club to promote greater community engagement with schools.
Individuals ages 60-64 will receive to $2 off admission to any district athletic, musical, arts, or theater performances. Those over 65 will receive to free admission. To apply go online to osceolaschools.net/legacyclub.
