Did you miss my column last week? Sometimes you just need to take a break.

But I am back and have some fishing to report on!

I have two superstars from the Osceola Anglers high school fishing club that deserve some recognition. Cole Thompson and Nick Cora, both juniors at Harmony high, just returned from an unforgettable trip to the TBF/FLW Southeast Conference Regionals.

What made their trip unforgettable? How about a first place finish with a five-fish limit of 14 pounds and 6 ounces.

Fifty-seven teams from eight states participated in the event that was held in Somerset, Ken. on Lake Cumberland.

Thompson and Cora have secured a spot at the National Championship next spring. Look for more information on how to help these fellas make that trip in an upcoming article!

Wednesday Night Results: The tournament held Sept. 7, Mark and Skip took home top honors with their three fish limit of 10.44 pounds, including the big bass of the night, a 6.55

pounder. There were 10 boats.

Results from Sept. 14, Chad and Todd with 7.87 pounds and the big fish, 3.87 pounds.

Mosquito Lagoon Report with Brian Pounds of Southern Fishing Charters:

The mullet run is in full effect and the monster Reds are in full spawn in the mid-to-south Mosquito Lagoon. First light to mid-morning we have been fishing mullet pods for Reds and

Juvenile Tarpon using cut mullet or MirrOlure Lil Johns.

When the winds decide to lie down in the late morning and early afternoon when the sunlight is best try cruising down the edges of bars or the middle of the lagoon looking for the monster spawning Reds. Some schools are 500 fish. Gold spoons and top water plugs are working best.

West Lake Toho report: Lake water level is at 52.78 feet and the gates are open at the lock with water holding at 7.62 feet. Temperatures have been in the mid-to-high 80s.

If you don’t have any plans today or Sunday and you are in the area of the Kissimmee lakefront , come down to the Marina and catch the action from the American Bass Anglers (ABA).  The live weigh-in starts at 3 p.m. Enjoy your first fall weekend everybody.
