Last Saturday was Great Outdoors Day here in Osceola County at the Kissimmee Lakefront.
A kids fishing derby was held and I am excited to report that the winner was an adorable little girl name Oriauna Albright.
She is 8 years old and is a lifelong resident of Osceola County.
This was her first time fishing in a competitive event and her hard work and determination paid off.
Oriauna attends East Lake Elementary and is in the third grade. Besides fishing with her brothers and daddy, she enjoys karaoke, swimming in Lake Toho, and a friendly game of baseball with her little brother.
It is always wonderful seeing young children have an interest in fishing.
Keep up your desire Oriauna.
I look forward to hearing more about your future trophy catches!
Wojo’s Bait and Tackle in St. Cloud provided trophies and fishing poles for the event.
Space Coast Report from Captain Brian Pounds: The mid-to-North Mosquito Lagoon is really good for schools of tailing redfish. Most are working shorelines with the high water levels.
On calm mornings most fish are up tailing early and on windy mornings up later. Key is to look for mud slicks on the shore where they are feeding. Cut baits and gulp shrimp in a white body and orange tail are working best.
Sorry, No West Lake Toho report this week.
Enjoy your earlier safelight, have a great weekend and tight lines friends.
