Last Saturday the Osceola Anglers High School Fishing Club hosted the annual Angling For Education Fundraiser Tournament out of the Kissimmee Lake Front Marina. 14 Teams made up of 3 anglers each participated in the tournament. I asked Mackenzie “Kenzie” Harrelson to share the days events with us. Harrelson participated on team Toho Marine and Outdoors with business owner Joe Clements and her Father, Charlie Harrelson. Team Toho was the overall winners of the day. Here is her story:

On Saturday, my Dad Charlie Harrelson, Joe Clements from Toho Marine and Outdoors and I fished a tournament to raise money for scholarships for Osceola Anglers High School Fishing Club. The morning started out with a chilly ride south from West Lake Toho to Lake Kissimmee. After arriving to our spot, my dad was explaining to me how to approach the spots we were fishing and what to look for. After finding a spot that all three of us agreed a bed would be, I made the pitch with my Denali rod into the hole with a Speed Worm. Picking up on my line, I soon realized I had a fish. After about a 45 second fight, the fish was in the boat and we were super stoked. We all agreed it had to be the biggest fish I had ever caught! We went on to catch three more decent fish and another good one to round out our five fish limit. Then another chilly ride back to weigh-in. We all took a guess at the weight of my fish and our bag. I was beyond excited to hear that we had caught 21.62 pounds of fish and my fish weighed in at an amazing 8.14 pounds! This fish comes in number one on my biggest fish list and is also my first trophy catch. Our team won 1st place and biggest fish. I would like to give a huge thanks to Joe and Toho Marine for being the best sponsor and my dad for giving me the opportunity to catch fish like this one!

Kenzie is 15 years old and is a Freshman at Harmony High School. She got her angling start fishing Saltwater with her dad when she was a young girl. About four years ago she took a liking to Freshwater fishing. This is not the first tournament she participated and won with her Dad by her side. The duo were the 2016 Cattlemens Tournament Champions. Thank you Kenzie for sharing your exciting day with us and congratulations on that Florida Trophy Catch.

There were 2 other winning teams that day. Claiming Second place was the team Skeeter with 13.62 pounds and 3rd place went to team Choppers Lawn Equipment with 12 pounds even.
