Toho Marine Wednesday Night Shoot-out results from August 23: Winning the tournament solo with a five-fish limit, 19.20 pounds anchored by the Denali Rods Big Fish of the tournament, a 5.91 pounder, was Derek Petruzelli.

Coming in second, but in the money for I am not sure how many consecutive weeks now, was the team of Shelton and Steve with 15.23 pounds. And rounding out the last payout spot was the duo of Eric and Pete with 11.81 pounds.

Twelve teams participated that night. The weather has been beautiful for these Wednesday night tournaments. I am currently sitting lakeside composing this week’s column and it’s so peaceful here and the guys are out there fishing!

The next Toho Marine One Man Elite Series will be held out of the Southport Ramp next Saturday, Sept. 9. If you are in the area drop in and catch the live weigh-in. Maybe even have lunch at Boggy Bottom Bar-B-Que while you are there!

Also next Saturday, the Osceola Anglers High School Fishing Club will be hosting a car wash as a fundraiser for the families of the two fallen Kissimmee Police Department officers. The Back The Blue Car Wash will be held in St. Cloud in front of Folsom Services, 25 E. 13th Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop in and support these anglers and their wonderful cause.

Today, Sept. 2, is a Saltwater Free Fishing License Day. That’s right, head to the coast or inter coastal waters and enjoy a worry free day. But the FWC and I do encourage you to have a year round license. It is the law to possess a license when fishing from a boat or shore.

It is the long awaited end of summer Labor Day Weekend. Many will be on the waters boating and fishing. Please practice boater safety. Prep your vessel now, not on the way! Be aware of others. Have courtesy at the ramps. Wear you PFD (Personal Flotation Device). Have plenty of gas… yeah it helps! Enjoy and send me pictures of your adventures to

Enjoy the long weekend and tight lines friends.
