Continuing to build depth and competition through all positions, the Orlando SeaWolves have signed veteran Mexican league defender Edelmiro “Titino” Elizalde to a five-year contract.
Per team and league policies, no further details were disclosed.
The defender joins Orlando having played most recently with CFR Reynosa in Liga Mexicana de Futbol Rápido Profesional, having played in five games, scoring two goals so far this season.
Titino is a veteran of the outdoor game as well, having spent seven years playing outdoor in the Segunda Division in Mexico with Reynosa FC, Topos de Reynosa, and Zorros de Reynosa.
In total, he appeared in 68 games, totaling over 5,000 minutes played in defense.
Recently, Elizalde also played in the third division of Spain with C.D. Eldense, playing in 49 games over two seasons.
He has also played for various teams in the indoor game over the years, suiting up for eventual PASL champions with Rio Grande Valley Devils, alongside recent SeaWolves signee Irving Tovar, as well as Reynosa Búfalos UAMRA in LMFR Pro.
“Titino has played at a very high level for many years in South America,” SeaWolves General Manager Chris Kokalis said. “He has the size and physicality that we look for in a defender.”
