On this, the end of the last week of the 2018-19 Osceola County school year, here are a couple of pieces of news from the county’s elementary and middle school programs:

The Narcoossee Middle School boys flag football team capped off an undefeated season last month, defeating Neptune Middle, 27-13, in the Division I bracket of bigger county schools.

Narcoossee went 7-0 in regular season and defeated Kissimmee Middle in a back-and-forth 20-14 semifinal before taking the championship game at Gateway.

The team was coached by Randy Schafer and Jason Kraus.

Narcoossee was also runner-up this year in girls soccer, boys volleyball and girls basketball. Neptune won boys and girls cross country, golf, girls and boys volleyball, boys and girls basketball, softball, boys and girls track, girls soccer and girls flag football on the way to the All-County middle school championship. Kissimmee Middle won in boys soccer. Narcoossee, with a 3.48 GPA across all sports, was the All-Academic country champion.

Celebration K-8 won the Division II All-Sports and All-Academic awards.

ELEMENTARY TRACK RECORDS SET: Celebration K-8 fifth-grader Gigi Decesare broke county records at the elementary school track meet at Osceola High School.

Decesare, 11, ran the 800-meter race in 2:51.10, breaking the girls record set in 2017 of 2:51.73. Her time of 6:05.38 in the 1600 meters shattered the previous girls record of 6:19.56 set last year.

According to her parents, Gigi will be headed to Washington DC this summer to be honored as a Junior National Young Leader.

The Celebration K-8 Girls elementary track team finished second in the county; the boys were third. The team is coached by Kristin Gamble.
