Team working out this week at Kia Center
The Osceola Magic’s training camp opened this week at the Kia Center, ahead of the Nov. 8 NBA G League opener against the Austin Spurs.
The team released its training camp roster, a list of 13 players that could take the floor for Osceola this season at the Silver Spurs Arena.
The first thing that jumps out is the number of returning players. Trevelin Queen, who played in 14 games last season with the Orlando Magic as a Two-Way Contract player, is back, along with fan favorite point guard Mac McClung, who this season is also on a two-way deal. Forwards Myron Gardner and Tre Scott, guard Alex Morales and center Chris Walker, a former Florida Gator who will turn 30 this season, are back for Head Coach Dylan Murphy.
Among the other talent acquired thus far by Osceola:
Jarrett Culver: the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the swingman averaged 20.9 points and 6.9 rebounds with the Rio Grande Vipers last season.
Ethan Thompson: the guard averaged 22.8 points per game with the Mexico City Capitales last year and was named to the All-NBA G League Third Team.
Robert Baker II: The small forward has averaged 32% shooting from three-point range in three G League seasons.
Jalen Slawson: Power forward; played 12 games with the Sacramento Kings as a two-way player and starred in the G League for the Stockton Kings.
Javonte Smart: A veteran of the G League and European leagues, the guard averaged nearly 16 points per game in 63 games over the last three seasons.
The training camp roster also includes forward Jemerrio Jones and guard Cameron Parker from Portland State , who the team selected in Sunday's NBA G League Draft.
