The Class of 92
Soccer is getting most of the sports headlines with the World Cup, and just in time for both new and long-time soccer fans is The Class of ’92 (Universal Studios Home Entertainment), a  must-see documentary on the boys from Manchester United.
It’s a class that included David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes, who are all featured on the DVD, telling stories and sharing memories about a special time in British soccer.
It is the story of six working class guys and came together to play for one the all-time great soccer clubs in the world.
It’s great stuff if you are a fan of soccer with the players offering insights about their time with
the team.
“My time with these players at Manchester United were the most special in my career,” said Beckham. “We came from different backgrounds, grew up like a family playing together through the ranks, all wanting to be successful. In the end, what we achieved was beyond our wildest dreams. I loved making this film and reuniting back with the lads and talking openly about our time together.”

Teacher’s Pet
Doris Day was just getting into light adult comedy mode with Teacher’s Pet (1958), the now classic film with Day and co-star, Clark Gable.
Teacher’s Pet pretty much set the pattern for a whole slew of Day movies (with Rock Hudson, James Garner etc.), where she played that frustrated wholesome girl-next-door type. And this is one of the best of that whole genre.
Day plays journalism professor Erica Stone, who is having a war of words with crusty newspaper managing editor James Gannon (Gable). To show her how much more he knows about journalism, he enrolls in her class under a different name, and, of course, despite their differences, they fall in love.
Day and Gable are both in top form here, playing so well against each other. And Gig Young also shines as a colleague’s of Day, who is seemingly perfect at everything, much to the frustration of Gable.
Teacher’s Pet is a manufactured on demand title, available only at the Warner Archive Collection (
