Sadia Baxter, widow of slain Kissimmee police officer, becomes FDLE agent

Posted on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10:13 pm

The widow of slain Kissimmee Police Officer Matthew Baxter, Sadia Baxter, is now a special agent with Florida Department of Law Enforcement, according to FDLE spokeswoman Angela Starke.
Sadia  was sworn in during a 3 p.m. ceremony on Monday by FDLE Commissioner Richard Swearingen, who came to Orlando from Tallahassee for the ceremony.
Baxter’s husband, Matthew, and Sgt. Richard “Sam” Howard were recently shot and killed in the line of duty.
Special Agent in Charge Danny Banks said a few words before the swearing-in and told the audience FDLE would surround Special Agent Baxter with strong support.
Assistant Commissioners Jennifer Pritt and Don Ladner also attended from Tallahassee. Members of Special Agent Baxter’s family, including three daughters, and members of the Kissimmee Police Department came to the ceremony as well.
She will be attending a future academy and is currently assigned to our organized crimes unit.
Sadia Baxter had been hired by FDLE prior to her husband’s unfortunate death in the line of duty, Starke said.
