It didn’t have quite the pizazz of its California counterpart, but D23 Expo, Disney World-style, still had a lot of excitement going on Saturday night.

Local media were invited to the unveiling of what’s new and coming soon to the Disney parks worldwide, and if you are a fan of all things Disney, there are exciting times ahead.

Hosted live in California by Walt Disney Parks Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek, and watched with much anticipation at the Disney Springs AMC theaters here in Orlando, it was a really big show, with music production numbers highlighting an event that featured announcements of new attractions such as a Tron-themed attraction at Magic Kingdom; a new live attraction theater on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom, based on the iconic Willis Theater in 1920s Kansas City and in Star-Wars theme resort hotel that Disney is calling “the most experimental concept ever,” dedicated entirely to the galaxy of Star Wars. Guest will have a multi-day adventure in the world of Star Wars.

Other announcements include the Disney Skyliner, a new transportation that will connect Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to the four resorts —Disney’s Art of Animation, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, as well as a new 15th Disney Vacation Club property, just announced, Disney Riviera Resort. The Skyliner is a bucket ride, similar to the one that was at Magic Kingdom for many years.

Other announcements include the Minnie Van service, a new point-to-point service to get guests around Disney World in a hurry. It can be arranged by smartphone and starts this month; Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, “a game-changing attraction,” according to Disney officialsthat will feature an original story that will take guests on a journey inside the world of Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts. It will replace the Great Movie Ride at the Chinese Theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Great Movie Ride will close Aug. 13.
