Ravenous Pig will host 10th anniversary weekend events in Winter Park

The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park will host a a two- day celebration for its 10th anniversary this weekend.

Since opening the doors of The Ravenous Pig 10 years ago, six-time James Beard Award nominated husband-and-wife duo, James and Julie Petrakis, have played a significant role in putting Orlando on the culinary map. Following the success of The Ravenous Pig, the Petrakis’ have expanded the Swine Family Restaurant Group to include Swine & Sons Provisions, Cask & Larder at the Orlando International Airport, The Polite Pig at Disney Springs and DoveCote Brasserie in Downtown Orlando.

 

A two-day celebration at The Ravenous Pig will mark the occasion and include an Oktoberfest Pig Roast on Saturday,  11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by “Friends of the Pig”, a five-course wine dinner on Sunday,  beginning at 5 p.m.

 

Joining The Ravenous Pig for the Oktoberfest Pig Roast will be former Swine Family alums, Garrett Ward of Red Cypress Brewery and Chef Josh Oakley of Smiling Bison. The roast will feature $5 Cask & Larder draught beer and a Red Cypress Brewery tap takeover as well as the debut of Cask & Larder’s Oktoberfest draught – a traditional malty lager inspired by the Oktoberfest/Marzen style.  An Oktoberfest roast will be prepared by The Ravenous Pig chef, Nick Sierputowski, and a three sausage sampler prepared by Chef Oakley.

 

The weekend celebration will conclude with “Friends of the Pig,” a five-course wine dinner featuring courses prepared by some of Orlando’s most recognized culinary talents.  The local all-star lineup includes Rhys and Lexi Gawlak of Swine & Sons Provisions; Clayton Miller of DoveCote Brasserie; Kathleen Blake of The Rusty Spoon; Brandon McGlamery of Prato, Luma on Park and Luke’s Kitchen and Bar; and Kevin Fonzo of the Kevin Fonzo Foundation – all of whom have been tapped to recreate one of the many celebrated dishes that have appeared on The Ravenous Pig’s menu over the past 10 years. A welcome cocktail and wine pairings are included with the dinner, wine will be provided by Master Sommelier George Miliotes.
