The Enzian’s annual Opera and Ballet on the Big Screen Summer Series is back, in partnership with Opera Orlando and Orlando Ballet. The series that began on June 16 features an extraordinary lineup of performances from The Royal Opera and Royal Ballet, filmed in high definition and showcased in a digital cinema.

“Opera Orlando is proud to continue its partnership with Enzian especially with these two innovative and thrillingly sung productions from The Royal Opera,” said Gabriel Preisser, Executive and Artistic Director of Opera Orlando. “It is an exciting time to be an opera fan as creativity and imagination abound in the industry as well as accessibility to the art form.  Enjoy Opera on the big screen and on the stage this season in Orlando.”

Orlando Ballet Artistic Director Robert Hill said, “Orlando Ballet is proud to partner with the Enzian Theater once again, to bring ballet to the big screen this summer. With my 10th anniversary season approaching, I am energized and inspired by the growth of Orlando’s arts community, and the historic success that Orlando Ballet has seen this year.”

Though the first performance of the season has already happened, guests still have time to enjoy three performances on select Saturdays. All performances begin at 11 a.m.

July 21 – Alice in Wonderland

Follow Alice down the rabbit hole in Christopher Wheeldon’s ballet, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s novel, performed by The Royal Ballet. The performance is 170 minutes.

Aug. 18 – Macbeth

Performed by The Royal Opera, with a cast including Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth, enjoy Verdi’s opera on Shakespeare’s tragedy, conducted by Antonio Pappano. The performance is 200 minutes.

Sept. 15 – Swan Lake

The Royal Ballet presents a new production of Tchaikovsky’s classical ballet, Swan Lake. The performance is 180 minutes.

“Central Florida boasts a vibrant and diverse cultural community, and Enzian is proud to work and partner with two cornerstone cultural organizations, Orlando Ballet and Opera Orlando, in bringing world-class opera and ballet performances to our big screen every summer season,” said Enzian Theater Programming Director Matthew Curtis. “Please come enjoy this unique experience and these outstanding productions, and don’t forget to attend and support our professional opera and ballet companies.”

Interested guests can purchase a season pass that allows admission to all performances at a discounted rate, plus a complimentary glass of house wine at each show. Admission to each of the performances can also be purchased individually for $20 per guest, per show. Discounted rates are available for members of The Enzian.
