On the Bunny Trail in Central Florida, a guide to fun and dining

From a bountiful brunch, to meeting Peter Cottontail himself, there are plenty of Easter happenings around Central Florida.

If you are looking to go hopping along that bunny trail, Kissimmee, St. Cloud and other communities have fun activities for kids and families.

On Thursday (April 13), the city of Kissimmee will host Hoppy Days at the Oak Street Park Community Center. There will be crafts, games and activities for all, plus a chance to meet the Easter Bunny as well. It is from 4 to 6 p.m. at the center.

The activities in Kissimmee continue with Eggcellent Easter at Mark Durbin Community Park at Lakeside, 2253 Lakeside Drive, April 14. It is from 4 to 6 p.m. and features fun and games, crafts, contests, refreshments and candy.

The main event in St. Cloud is at the Civic Center, Saturday, April 15, at the Eggstravaganza Carnival and Egg Scramble.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the egg hunt will start promptly at 10:30 a.m. There will be games, crafts, a balloon artist and face painting. Visit with the Easter Bunny and bring a camera for photos. It ends at noon, cost per child is $5, up to age 9. For information, call 407- 957-7243.

Plaza del Sol shopping center in Kissimmee hosts Easter, Saturday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event feature Easter Bunny photos, an egg hunt, entertainment and more.

WaterStone Church celebrates Easter weekend with a Saturday night concert featuring food trucks and a Sunday morning service, which includes a continental breakfast and live music at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs. Both events are free.

Celebrate art at the Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park Easter Weekend Open House on April 14-16. Admission is free.

Gaylord Palms Resort celebrates the spirit of spring with Easter Eggstravaganza Weekends.

Everyone is welcome to wander through the hotel atrium and look at the spring transformation with its foliage, tulips, daffodils, hyacinth and more. And there also are giant decorated Easter eggs and large chocolate bunny. Hotel guests who book the Eggtravaganza Weekends can participate in Queen Titania Tulip’s Easter Coronation and High Tea. Search for eggs, decorate an Easter Egg cookie and more. (Non-package guests can participate for $14.99 per decorating kit).

The Great Gaylord Palms Egg Hunt is a big affair, with 4.5 acres of indoor gardens, the Easter Bunny has lots of spots to hide his eggs and guests have the fun of finding them. (Daily through April 16; complimentary for resort guests).

Easter Dining

You can visit with Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny Easter weekend at the Easter Bunny Breakfast at Villa de Flora. While enjoying the outstanding breakfast buffet at award-winning Villa de Flora, Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny do some table-hopping, and pose for photos. Easter at Reunion Resort is a newer holiday tradition.

Grande Easter Brunch

Paddlefish at Disney Springs has a $52 per person Easter menu that includes Dover Sole Roulades (Crab & chorizo stuffed, fiddlehead ferns atop mango beurre blanc); Opera Cake (Layered chocolate & espresso cake with a milk chocolate glaze). The Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista brunch celebrates the holiday with a lavish brunch featuring appetizers, an omelet and carving station, savory sides and desserts with complimentary mimosas. Adults, $23.95, children age 9 and younger, $11.95, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations not required, but recommended. Advance reservations get a $3 discount per person. Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, near Tampa, has an Easter weekend package that might make their Easter Brunch even more enticing. Stay two or more nights and get 20 percent off your stay and a $50 resort credit. The brunch features traditional favorites like herb crusted prime rib, roasted leg of lamb, dark rum and cherry baked ham and more.
