Thomas Anthony Twigg Sr., 75, of Saint Cloud FL, passed to his eternal resting place, surrounded by his family and friends, on August 5th, 2019.
A veteran of the Vietnam war, he served two tours with the Army’s 101st Airborne Division (“Screaming Eagles”). He was the recipient of a Bronze star, a Purple Heart and subsequent awards for his acts of bravery. He was a true hero and a great American patriot.
His service to his country did not end when the war did. He spent years battling the wounds and demons the war had inflicted on him. He turned his pain into healing when he and his wife created a traveling replica of the Vietnam wall. Tom and Dee traveled to hundreds of locations throughout the country, donating their time and hard work, to offer the chance of closure to friends and families of fallen soldiers, MIA, and POW’s. He found peace and comfort by helping others find the same. He is surely standing the flagline in heaven, welcoming home fallen soldiers. His legacy will live on through all of the lives he touched. Heaven needed a hero and we should all find comfort knowing he is now a patriot of the Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dee Twigg. His children, John Twigg, Thomas Twigg Jr., Kimberly Weis, Julie Paoli, Shannon Ravenel, and Matthew Twigg, along with their spouses, his 20 beloved grandchildren, a great granddaughter, two brothers, David and Lynn, and his sister, Andrea McIntire.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 10th, at Ralph V Chisholm Park, 4700 Chisholm Park Trl., Saint Cloud, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
On Friday October 11th, Tom will be escorted, by the Patriot Guard, to the Florida National Cemetery. Details of his “Final Ride” will be posted via social media.
