KIER – Kenneth K. Kier, passed away in St. Cloud, FL on July 31 at the age of 92.  Ken is preceded by his parents Vessie and Nellie Kier of Wilmington, OH, loving wife of 58 years, Virginia (Hodge) Kier; sister Roma Mercer and brother-in-law Joseph Mercer of Sabina, OH.  Kenneth is lovingly remembered by three daughters; Willa Kier and her husband Jack Douthett, Albuquerque, NM; Lisa Cleavinger and her husband Marc Cleavinger, La Jolla, CA; daughter Jeri Killian, Orlando, FL,  granddaughter Caroline Cleavinger.  
 Kenneth was born in Wilmington, OH in 1923.  He graduated from Wilmington HS in 1941 and went on to earn a BS in accounting from Ohio University in 1949.  He met Virginia while there and they married in 1949.  They raised their family in Beavercreek where Ken resided for more than 50 years.  He retired as a Financial Analyst for Computer Systems from Wright Patterson AFB in 1981 after 39 years of service.  
 A veteran of WWII, Ken served in the Army Air Corp for three years and ended his service on Guam with the 6th Bomb Squadron, 29th Bomb Group under Colonel Carl Storrie.  Ken flew over the Battleship Missouri in a B29 on VJ Day while the Peace Treaty was being signed, one of the most memorable times of his life.
 A Pastmaster of the Alpha Masonic lodge in Kettering, Ken was a member there for more than 60 years.  
 Ken joined the Beavercreek Lion’s Club in 1972 and served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President during his tenure.  He also served as Historian and in 1999 wrote the History of the Club from 1950-2000.  Ken and Virginia spent their winters in Venice, FL after their retirement and Ken was active the Venice Lions Club for 13 years, volunteering in their program to provide hearing and vision screenings for low income residents and help them to buy glasses, hearing aids and receive cataract surgery.   
 Ken spent his last 5 years at the Savannah Court assisted living facility in St. Cloud, FL  with his cat Auggie  where both were greatly loved by the staff and fellow residents.  
 The visitation will be held at noon at the Beavercreek, Ohio Tobias Funeral Home on Saturday, August 8th with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Shurts officiating.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14 at Savannah Court Assisted Living Facility in St. Cloud.
