CRAWFORD – John Edward Crawford, 80, of Saint Cloud, Florida and Hayesville, North Carolina passed away at his summer home on Monday, August 17, 2015. He was a native of Ohio. He attended Bob Jones University and graduated from the University of Florida. He was a teacher and coach with New River Junior High School. John moved to Saint Cloud where he resided for over 40 years. He held a Florida real estate license where he worked independently as well as with Donna Allen Realty, which is now Mehrlich Properties. He had served on the Saint Cloud City Council and was mayor of Saint Cloud in the early 1980s. As of late, he had worked part-time at Hodgins Appliance. John was an avid fisherman and “played” at golf. One of his greatest joys was attending The Gaither gospel singings and concerts. John attended Eastern Avenue Baptist Church in Saint Cloud.
He was the son of the late Moody S. and Alice Mae Hines Crawford. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby, Chuck, and Larry Crawford.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Christa Crawford; two daughters, Dee Dee Crawford of Palm Coast, Florida and Andrea Crawford of Blairsville, Georgia; a son, Joe Crawford and wife, Frankie of Kissimmee, Florida; three sisters, Sharon Fish of Jupiter, Florida, Jeanette Koerner of Berkley, Michigan, and Becky McChesney and husband, Dr. David of Clarkston, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Marlene Crawford of Clarkston, Michigan; six grandchildren, Hailey Jo Crawford, Jeremy Simpson, Amanda Tanner, Macy Gray, Molly Hayes, and Megan Hayes; two great grandchildren, Madilyn Lee Tanner and Makenna Claire Gray; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Heart Cry Chapel in Kissimmee, Florida with Pastor Leonard Thompson officiating.
