Victim in stable condition at local hospital
A man was transported to a hospital after being involved in a shooting at the Heritage Park Apartments on U.S. 192 east of Kissimmee, Osceola Sheriff Marcos Lopez reported Friday.
He said multiple calls came in just after 12:30 p.m. of a shooting in the area. When deputies arrived they from a Hispanic male, who has only been identified as a resident of the apartment complex at this time. The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition as of Friday afternoon, Lopez said.
Law enforcement has little info on the shooter as the investigation continues. Witnesses said they saw the victim and another individual talking in the area where the victim was found prior to the shooting. Police are unclear at this time if the shooter and victim knew each other.
"This is the season for a lot of burglaries and robberies," Lopez said. "We're going to have our (school resource officers) patrolling apartment complexes this month (when schools are out for holiday break).
The investigation continues.
