Florida's Turnpike south of Kissimmee to close nightly this week -- see details

Florida's Turnpike Enterprise reminds motorists that the Turnpike will close nightly this week in both directions from south of U.S. Highway 192 to State Road 60 in Yeehaw Junction.

The closures will happen nightly from Monday through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Drivers should use U.S. Highway 441 as an alternative, going east on U.S. 192 from Kissimmee and St. Cloud, then south on 441 to U.S. 60 and the Turnpike interchange there, where they can then go southbound. Northbound drivers should use 60 to 441 to 192 back to the Turnpike.

The work is to install overhead gantries to switch the entire Turnpike to All-Electronic Tolling (AET), and to remove existing mainline and existing toll plazas on the interchange ramps and addition of several new messaging signs.

In addition, Turnpike drivers should be aware of a closure at the Interstate 4 interchange from Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for interchange improvements. Northbound drivers will exit I-4 East, go up one exit to Conroy Road, head back west on I-4 and re-enter the Turnpike.
