Two Kissimmee residents were tragically killed in incidents on our roads Saturday.
The first involved a 24-year-old woman early Saturday. Around 3:20 a.m., the female driver and her 19-year female passenger from Orlando were traveling westbound when she lost control, striking the median-side, then the shoulder-side, guardrails, per the FHP report. The vehicle then crossed back toward the median, striking a wall and overturning into the eastbound shoulder. Both females were ejected from from the vehicle; the driver fell into the travel lanes, where at least two drivers ran over her, including a 30-year-old Kissimmee man. The driver was pronounced dead on scene; the passenger was transported to Orlando Health in serious condition.
Then, late Saturday afternoon, a motorcyclist was killed late Saturday afternoon in a collision on Orange Blossom Trail when another driver drove into his path, Florida Highway Patrol said later in the evening.
The 27-year-old man was traveling southbound when a 68-year-old Orlando man driving a pickup truck on east Jackson Street entered the intersection at around 5:25 p.m. The front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the pickup. The rider was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
A power pole was hit in the incident, and a nearby mobile home park lost power for about an hour, a local resident noted.
