Suspect charged with attempted murder after cutting victim's throat with knife

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office charged a man with attempted murder on Tuesday after he cut a victim’s throat with a knife.

At 8:05 p.m., deputies responded to the Sevilla Plaza, 4636 W. U.S. Highway 192, after receiving a stabbing call. A witness took the male victim to a local hospital.

The victim, who was listed in critical but stable condition, suffered a large laceration to his throat and is currently unable to provide a statement. Deputies, however, were able to identify the suspect as Sidney Tijon Ward, 28, who initially fled the scene, but later went to the hospital to get treated for a laceration to his hand.

Ward was interviewed and cooperated with the investigation. He admitted to hitting the victim and cutting him with a knife during an altercation in the Sevilla Plaza parking lot, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. He was then arrested and charged with attempted murder.
