St. Cloud truck driver killed in Osceola Parkway crash Monday

A St. Cloud truck driver was killed Monday morning in an Osceola Parkway crash after another vehicle turned in front of him, authorities said.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Hope Blalser, 22, of Ohio, was driving a 2017 Jeep SUV westbound on Osceola Parkway at about 8:15 a.m., when she attempted to make a left turn onto Storey Lake Boulevard.

When she turned, she entered the path of an eastbound 1994 Mack truck hauling sand, driven by Jose Figueroa Rivera, 50, of St. Cloud, troopers said. The front of the truck hit the right side of the Jeep and then overturned, partially ejecting Rivera. Rivera, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on scene, the report stated.

Balser was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
