St. Cloud man killed in crash after truck flips

A St. Cloud man was killed in a crash on Tuesday after he was ejected from the vehicle he was driving.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Wyatt Lanz, 25, was driving a 2004 Ford pickup truck eastbound on U.S. Highway 192 at about 7:15 p.m.

Robert Leibe, 59, of St. Cloud, who was driving a 1999 Chevy van, made a left turn onto U.S. 192 from old Melbourne Highway and was in front of Lanz.

Lanz approached Leibe from behind and then swerved to the left, the report stated. But the front right side of the truck hit the back of the van, sending it into the grass median. The truck then overturned, ejecting Lanz. Lanz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to St. Cloud Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the report.

A 9-year-old girl, who also was in the truck, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. She was not identified in the report.

Leibe was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
