St. Cloud High School teacher arrested for battering student

A St. Cloud High School teacher was arrested on Wednesday for battering a student.

According to a St. Cloud Police Department press release, a school resource officer at the high school became aware of an incident that took place between a teacher, Jason Parks, and a student.

During the officer’s initial investigation, it was discovered Parks battered a student.

On Wednesday, the school resource officer conducted a follow-up investigation and Parks was placed under arrest for child abuse-simple battery. He was transported to the Osceola County Jail, where he was booked & held on bond.

The report did reveal why Parks battered the student.

No further information was released.

Parks has been reassigned out of the school until any and all investigations are completed, Osceola

County School District spokeswoman Dana Schafer said.  He was hired by the School District in January of 2015, and has served as a substitute teacher and teacher.  He started at St. Cloud High School in November of 2018 and is an environmental science teacher.
