St. Cloud Fire Rescue plans to hire six new firefighters after receiving a grant.
The agency was awarded the SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) Grant though the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
It allows the addition of six firefighters/paramedics, which will be funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency SAFER Grant, in the amount of $983,828. The purpose of the SAFER Grant Program is to protect the health and safety of the public and firefighting personnel against fire and fire-related hazards.
“This is an exciting time for the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department”, said Fire Chief
Joe Silvestris. “This additional resource will help improve our response times and improve service level for fire and EMS incidents.”
