St. Cloud driver charged with DUI after hitting, killing pedestrian

A St. Cloud driver was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian while he was impaired.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Terry Morales Aheran, 22, of St. Cloud, was driving a 2018 Suburban vehicle northbound on John Young Parkway near Harris Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m.

Aheran was in the right lane when he hit a pedestrian, the patrol report stated. It was unknown where the pedestrian was when he was hit.  Aheran then fled the scene.

Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Deputy David Crawford spotted Aheran and stopped him.

Troopers arrived and charged Aheran with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. Troopers suspect that Aheran was impaired on drugs, the report stated. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail.

A blood sample was taken and will be sent to a lab for testing.

The pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not identified as his family had not yet been notified.

The crash remains under investigation.
