For the first time, Osceola School District’s Early Childhood Learning Center will be hosting Kindergarten Countdown events for all children entering kindergarten in the fall and their parents.
The events entitled, “Bedtime Stories: Dreaming About Kindergarten” will promote early literacy and summer reading activities, encourage parent involvement and provide families with important information pertaining to the transition into kindergarten in the Osceola School District.
The events will be held in three locations:
•Poinciana Area: May 2, at Liberty High School, 4250 Pleasant Hill Road, in Kissimmee, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
•Kissimmee Area: May 7, at Thacker Avenue Elementary School for International Studies, 301 Thacker Ave., in Kissimmee, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
•St. Cloud Area: May 16 at Ross E. Jeffries Early Childhood Learning Center, 1200 Vermont Ave., in St. Cloud, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Children who are entering kindergarten in the fall are invited to wear their pajamas to these “Bedtime Stories” events. Attendees will participate in read-alouds, visit vendor booths, register for giveaways and learn about how to best prepare for the transition into kindergarten in August.
Parents who have not yet registered their child for kindergarten are encouraged to visit their home-zoned school or the school they applied to through School Choice to complete the enrollment process for next school year.
