Since declaring a local State of Emergency on Wednesday, Osceola County has continued to ramp up emergency response and preparation efforts.
At this morning’s 11:30 a.m. briefing, the following announcements were made:
•Sandbag distribution will continue at all Osceola County and City of Kissimmee and City of St. Cloud locations through SATURDAY at 6pm.
•Effective this morning, Osceola County activated the hotline for Special Needs Persons at 407-742-9001. Osceola County team members can advise residents with special needs on how to proceed.
•Osceola County’s initial Special Needs Shelter will open at 4pm on Saturday at the Council on Aging, located at 700 Generation Point, Kissimmee. Individuals staying at the special needs shelter should bring medicine and other vital supplies
General shelters will open at noon on Sunday at the following locations. Individual should bring materials to shelter in place, including personal supplies, bedding, snacks and games, as well as food for any special dietary needs.
•Harmony High School (pet-friendly shelter) 3601 Arthur J Gallagher Blvd., St. Cloud,
•St. Cloud High School- 2000 Bulldog Lane, St. Cloud
•Horizon Middle School- 2020 Ham Brown Road, Kissimmee
•First responders will be housed at Osceola Heritage Park, and including pets- 1875 Silver Spur Lane, Kissimmee.
•Sex offenders will be housed at the County’s Beaumont Street Facility- 330 N Beaumont Ave. Kissimmee.
In addition, Osceola County issued on Friday an executive order providing for a recommended and voluntary evacuation for low lying areas and manufactured and mobile homes to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
