Monday, the American Association of State Troopers (AAST) announced the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) as the 2024 winner of its annual America’s Best Looking Cruiser Competition. FHP defended its title.
FHP was able to secure a photo taken at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Space Launch Complex on April 18, during the final liftoff of the United Launch Alliance(ULA) Delta IV Heavy. Last year, the photo was alligator-themed.
“This year, we took the competition to new heights and were able to showcase Florida’s Space Coast,” said Executive Director Dave Kerner. “I am proud of my team and grateful for the incredible support we have seen from our public safety partners, state leaders, and most importantly, our citizens. Thank you for backing the black and tan.”
“This competition is very important to our troopers, who are truly ambassadors for Florida,” said FHP Col. Gary Howze II. Florida came together for the win, but the real winner is the public that benefits from cooperative law enforcement nationwide working toward public safety. I am incredibly proud of our FHP Family and our Florida law enforcement partners, who truly made it happen back-to-back!”
This year’s competition saw a record 49 states participate. Over the course of two weeks, each state rallied its citizens to cast their votes, making it one of the most engaging contests in its history— and, for a second-straight year, It was FHP coming out on top.
Osceola REALTORS show pride in their communities by cleaning Florida’s waterways
It’s never too early to hit the water in Florida–especially if the goal is to help clean and beautify beaches and waterways across Florida. The statewide push encourages REALTORS and residents to join forces to pick up trash and clean the state’s lakes, rivers, streams, retention ponds, bays, Intracoastal Waterway, Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean during the event.
“Our beautiful beaches and outstanding waterways are one of the major reasons so many people love to live in– and visit–the Sunshine State,” said 2024 Florida Realtors President Gia Arvin, broker-owner with Matchmaker Realty in Gainesville. “We encourage everyone who loves Florida’s waters to join Florida Realtors’ statewide effort to keep them clean and beautiful. We can all make a difference, at any time, to help preserve our waterways so that everyone can enjoy them now and for future generations.”
The REALTORS Care Committee partnered with the City of Kissimmee and the City of St. Cloud to select areas of the county that would benefit the most from the Association’s clean-up effort. The volunteer teams were divided between three locations in Osceola County. At the end of the project, the Association’s volunteers collected 75 pounds of trash.
The purpose of the REALTORS Care Committee is to seek, develop and promote opportunities for the Osceola County Association of REALTORS and its’ members to be engaged in the community. The committee identifies opportunities and encourages involvement from REALTORS in order to make a strong, positive impact in the community.
Even under the blazing Central Florida sun, our members showed incredible resolve and teamwork in cleaning up our community›s waterways. Their hard work and dedication not only reflect their commitment to our shared values but also highlight their passion for making a positive impact on our environment," said 2024 Osceola REALTORS Board President, Jim Lowe.
