3 from Neptune Middle win Hispanic Heritage Month awards
Three Neptune Middle School sixth-graders were recently recognized at an Hispanic Heritage Month essay contest luncheon.
Spectrum hosted an essay contest with 12 participating classrooms along with the Hispanic Chamber of Metro Orlando. The purpose of this event was to encourage thoughtful discussions with students about broadband while bringing everyone together to celebrate the unique voices and experiences of Hispanic/Latino Americans.
Among the winners recognized were first place Liam Milburn; second place Skylar Mitchell; and third place Keilenys Sosa. Their certificates were framed and presented to the students at a pizza party during lunch at school.
St. Cloud Rotary collects 325 pairs of glasses
The Rotary Club of St. Cloud, through its annual eyeglass collection, collected 325 pairs of glasses that will be passed on to the Salvation Army for distribution to those in need of a pair.
County again honored for financial reporting
For the 34th consecutive year, Osceola County has received the highest honor in governmental accounting and financial reporting, it said in a release Tuesday.
Osceola County has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023, by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
“Osceola County has modeled excellence in fiscal stewardship for 34 straight years now. This is further validation of our unwavering commitment to high standards in financial responsibility, and the diligent efforts or our dedicated staff,” said Osceola County Commission Chair Cheryl Grieb.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
