NEWS BRIEFS — Masongsong new HCA Osceola Chief Nursing Officer

HCA Florida Osceola Hospital announced the appointment of JoAnne Masongsong as its Chief Nursing Officer, effective Sept. 3.

Masongsong will oversee the hospital nursing team and several departments to include the emergency departments, women’s services and critical care units at the 407-bed acute care hospital and Level 2 Trauma Center.

Masongsong joins HCA Florida Osceola Hospital with more than 20 years of healthcare experience, most recently as the assistant chief nursing officer (ACNO) at St. David’s Medical Center, a 435-bed facility in Austin, Texas in HCA Healthcare’s Central/West Texas Division. There she provided strategic leadership over nursing operations, critical care, emergency services, electrophysiology, women’s services, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), surgical oncology, telemetry and other critical hospital departments. Masongsong also led the American Nurses Credentialing Center ANCC Magnet Recognition Program in addition to achieving substantial reduction in employee turnover, an HCA Florida release said.

“JoAnne’s nursing experience and leadership could not have been better suited for the culture of excellence we’ve built at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital,” said David Shimp, chief executive officer of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital. “JoAnne’s proven ability in nursing operations, as well as her incredible advancement of nursing engagement, makes her uniquely qualified for this role.”

Masongsong received her Bachelor of Science in Communications from The University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.
