Kissimmee Parks & Recreation Department officials announced that Mill Slough Park and the KUA Cumbie Canine Court, 2138 Agate St., have reopened after repairs were completed to natural stormwater functions.
In November of 2018, the Kissimmee Commission approved the acceptance of $1,434,974.25 in federal grant funding that was awarded to assist with the design and construction of the Mill Slough Restoration Project. The restoration was due to the damaged caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017.
The grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Emergency Watershed Protection Program will provide funding assistance in removing silt and debris, and restore the natural function of the Mill Slough.
