Lifelong Democrat with over 29 years of experience in the law enforcement and public safety – Mike Fisher has filed for Osceola County Sheriff for the Aug. 25, 2020 Primary Election.

Fisher has a long and distinguished history as a community leader in Osceola County and the corporate sector, according to a campaign press release.

“I have dedicated my career to making our community a better and safer place,” said Fisher. “Now I want to lead by that example by running for sheriff where I will demonstrate that I am not only ready to lead the men and women of the largest law enforcement agency in Osceola County, but I am the most qualified.”

Fisher will be running a grassroots campaign focused on community issues that he has long been known for championing. They include:

Focus back on policing

Fisher intends to bring the agency’s primary focus back to the core function of law enforcement through true community policing.

Engaging our youth

Fisher will work to proactively address juvenile delinquency, since 40 percent of adolescent’s time is spent outside of school, by strengthening public private partnerships and establishing new ones to design after school recreational programs, in identified areas throughout the county, that will be accessible and involve deputies mentoring and guiding.

Addressing homelessness

Fisher will partner closely with nonprofit organizations, businesses and our local governments already recognized to address homelessness by launching a “Homeless Outreach Team” within the Sheriff’s Office.

Tourism and safety

In the West 192 region, Fisher will re-establish the disbanded proactive policing units and add patrol personnel in the tourism corridor to address the rising calls for service in these areas.

Accountability to residents

To hold the Sheriff’s Office accountable to the public, Fisher will implement a comprehensive long-term strategic plan for the Sheriff’s Office.

With a strategic plan in place, it will provide accountability and transparency; it will provide direction and vision about future growth, staffing and identify long-term needs.
