Man arrested at Tax Collector’s Office for threatening clerk, said he had a gun

A man was arrested at the Osceola County Tax Collector’s Office on Wednesday after he threatened a clerk, saying he had a gun in his backpack.

Shawn Foster Sample, 36, was arrested and charged with threats to a public servant and aggravated assault.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to the Osceola County Tax Collector’s Office, 2501 E. U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee, in reference to an individual trespassing.

Deputies learned that Sample asked to speak to a supervisor while at the Tax Collector’s Office.

He then told the clerk who was assisting him, “I have a gun in my back pack, so you’re gonna help me! Time is ticking… Tick tock,” the report stated. As Sample made this threat, deputies said he began moving his backpack as if he was going to remove an item from within it, placing the clerk in fear for her life.

Sample admitted to making the threats but no gun was located on him, the report stated. Sample was booked into the Osceola County Jail.
