The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) has released a real-time mobile application for the NeighborLink service.
The new application will allow customers to book trips and to receive vehicle location alerts directly on their mobile device.
NeighborLink is a flex-service aimed to make it easier for residents living in less-populated areas to use public transportation. Previously, passengers in the designated service area had to make a reservation by calling, 407-244-0808, two hours before they wanted to travel. This option will remain.
Customers will need to download the LYNX NeighborLink app from Google Play or the App Store and create an account. The benefits for app customers will include:
- Request pick-ups and drop-offs from the closest vehicle or schedule a trip up to seven days in advance.
- View the estimated time of arrival for their vehicle.
- Receive a “push” notification when their vehicle is en route and on arrival.
- View their vehicle’s location on a map as it drives to their pick up location.
- Cancel a trip.
The LYNX website golynx.com/neighborlink also will offer these same functions.
LYNX operates 13 NeighborLink routes in Bithlo, Buena Ventura Lakes, Intercession City/Campbell City, Goldsboro, Kissimmee, Maitland, Pine Hills, Poinciana, Ocoee, Oviedo, Williamsburg and Winter Garden.
This is the second app the agency has debuted in 2017. Other technology enhancements the agency is currently working on is a mobile fare payment system and an incident reporting app.
