Liberty High School was briefly on lockdown Wednesday morning when a group of students told a staff member there was a weapon on campus.
It was a hoax, and now those students face disciplinary action, an Osceola County School District spokesperson said.
At the start of the school day, prior to 7:30 a.m., the students made the claim, and the school went on immediate lockdown. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office investigated, and searched the school and the students involved. The students admitted the report was a joke and the lockdown was lifted by 8 a.m., the district said.
The district made a call to Liberty parents with the facts of the incident.
