A 74-year-old woman was killed late Thursday afternoon in Poinciana when Florida Highway Patrol reports her car veered off a road and into a tree.
According to an FHP report, the incident occurred just before 5 p.m. Thursday at Marigold Avenue and Stepping Stone Boulevard, just south of Koa Street. Troopers said the woman was driving her Nissan Xterra southbound on Marigold when, for reasons FHP does not know at this time, it ran off the right side of the roadway, through a grassy shoulder and into a tree. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers say.
The crash remains under investigation.
